Description
Toy World is a photographic series created using vintage lenses and tilt/shift techniques to produce a toy-like visual effect. By blending these optical methods with the warm, nostalgic hues of vintage colors, the images evoke the feel of miniature cityscapes, where carefully chosen locations come to life with vibrant saturation and sharp contrasts.
This particular shot was taken on the sacred island of Kudaka, Okinawa, where painted cat figures greet visitors arriving at the harbor, inviting them to explore further. Kudaka Island holds deep cultural significance as the birthplace of the local religion and remains a highly revered site for the island’s residents.
The letters on the cats read “the island of god“, “Kudaka Island” and reference the traditional dialect of Okinawa.
This image is part of a larger series capturing the essence and spirit of the island.
