Description

The large print „free from desire“ focuses on a demo car in production within a shop window in Munich. Germany’s, currently, richest city, hosting various big car companies and production facilities, ensuring the wealth of its inhabitants.

Germany is still one of the most know car export countries in the world and its citizens value cars not only as a mode of transportation but often as a status object as well. Fittingly, the art-print „free from desire“ reflects a Buddha from a shop window across the street, right where the license plate of the car should be.

Buddhism propagates a life free from desire, so the direct contrast between status symbols and religious dogmas gives this artwork a simple commentary, yet deeper meaning.

As a part of the „living the German dream“ collection, this print focuses on everyday German elements and longings that are representational of the society, the dreams of its inhabitants and offer an insight into German culture as a whole.

All the images in this particular collection are produced with classic film cameras from the last century. „free from desire“ was shot with a Leica M4P and on Porta 400 film.
